Who we are
Food Hygiene Hub runs this website. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean Food Hygiene Hub.
- Email: support@foodhygienehub.co.uk
You can contact us through our contact page or by email at support@foodhygienehub.co.uk.
These terms apply when you use this website and when you buy from us. We ask you to accept them at checkout, so please read them first.
Our service
We provide online training in food hygiene, HACCP, allergen awareness and food labelling, with online assessments and certificates of completion. Our courses cover food safety in the United Kingdom only.
Our training supports, but does not replace, practical instruction and supervision at work. It is not legal advice. Your employer decides what training your role needs.
What our certificates are
Our certificates are private certificates of completion. A certificate shows that the named person completed our course and passed its assessment. It is not a regulated qualification, it is not on the RQF or SCQF, and it is not endorsed by the Food Standards Agency, Food Standards Scotland, local authorities, Environmental Health Officers or any awarding body.
We do not promise that an employer, inspector or anyone else will accept a certificate. Our certificate status page explains this in full.
Eligibility and your name
You must be 16 or over to buy a certificate.
A certificate belongs to the person who passed the assessment. At checkout, enter that person's full name exactly as it should appear, and an email address they can use. The name is printed on the certificate and shown when it is verified, so you are responsible for making sure it is accurate. If you spot a mistake, contact us quickly and we will help you to correct it.
How buying works
Single courses are pay after pass:
- Studying the lessons and sitting the assessment are free, and you can retake the assessment as often as you need to.
- If you pass, you can choose to buy your certificate at the price shown. You do not have to.
- We issue your certificate as soon as Stripe confirms your payment.
Bundles are paid for first:
- You pay for all the courses in the bundle in advance.
- Any course in the bundle that you have already passed on the same device is issued as soon as Stripe confirms your payment.
- The other courses appear on your order page. When you pass one of those assessments, its certificate is issued straight away.
- A bundle with no price shown cannot be bought online. Contact us if you are interested in it.
Our contract with you starts when Stripe confirms your payment. We then send a confirmation to your email address.
Prices and VAT
All prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include VAT where it applies. The price at checkout is the price you pay. We can change our prices, but a change never affects an order you have already paid for.
Payment
Payments are taken by Stripe on a secure payment form. We never see or store your full card details. An order is only paid when Stripe confirms it. If a payment fails, no certificate is issued and you can try again.
Digital content and your right to cancel
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, you normally have 14 days to cancel an online purchase, without giving a reason.
A certificate is digital content. The right to cancel digital content ends once we start to supply it, if you asked us to start straight away and agreed that you would then lose that right. We ask for your express consent to this at checkout, and we cannot take your order without it.
- Single courses: your certificate is issued as soon as your payment is confirmed, so the right to cancel ends at that point.
- Bundles: you can cancel within 14 days of your order, as long as no certificate from that order has been issued. The right to cancel ends when the first certificate is issued.
Our Refund Policy explains how to cancel and how refunds work.
Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015
Digital content we supply must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you can ask us to repair or replace it. If we cannot do that, or we do not do it within a reasonable time, you can ask for a price reduction, which can be as much as a full refund.
If digital content we supply damages your device or other digital content because we did not use reasonable care and skill, we will put it right or pay you compensation.
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights. Citizens Advice can tell you more about them.
Assessment integrity
An assessment must be your own work and must be sat by one person: the person named on the certificate. You must not:
- Let anyone else sit an assessment for you, or sit one for someone else
- Get help from another person during an assessment
- Copy, share or publish assessment questions or answers
- Use software or an automated tool to answer questions
Certificate verification
Every certificate has a unique code and a QR code. Anyone holding the code can check it on our verification page and see the holder's name, the course, the issue date, the status of the certificate and its suggested refresher date.
When we can revoke a certificate
We can revoke a certificate if it was obtained by fraud, if the assessment rules above were broken, or if the order was refunded or the payment was reversed. A revoked certificate shows as revoked when it is verified and must no longer be used. If you think we have made a mistake, please contact us.
Intellectual property
Our courses, questions, certificate designs and brand belong to us or to the people who license them to us. You may use the courses for your own training, and you may download your certificate and share it with employers and others. You must not copy, resell or publish our content, or alter a certificate.
Our liability to you
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit. This includes your statutory rights as a consumer.
Apart from that, we are responsible only for loss or damage that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for an employer's or inspector's decision about a certificate, or for how a food business meets its own legal duties.
If you buy for a business, the consumer rights in these terms do not apply to that purchase. Our total liability to the business is limited to the amount it paid for the order, and we are not liable to it for loss of profit, business or opportunity.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when the law changes. The version on this page when you place an order applies to that order.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, please tell us through our contact page or by email at support@foodhygienehub.co.uk. Include your order reference if you have one. We will look into it and reply as soon as we can. If we cannot settle your complaint, we will tell you in writing and say whether an alternative dispute resolution service is available.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute.
If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can bring a claim in your home courts, and you keep the mandatory protections of the law where you live.
