Frequently asked questions

Is a food hygiene certificate legally required?

No specific certificate is required by UK law. Food business operators must make sure food handlers are supervised and instructed or trained appropriately for their work.

Are your certificates regulated qualifications?

No. They are private certificates of completion. We do not claim Ofqual, FSA, CIEH, RSPH, RoSPA or CPD accreditation or government approval.

How does paying after passing work?

You study and sit the test for free. If you pass and want your certificate, you pay the course price. If you do not pass, you pay nothing. Bundles are different: you pay for those up front.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no login. Your progress is saved on your device, and your certificate link is sent to you by email.

Can I retake the test?

Yes. Retakes are unlimited and free, and we point you to the topics to review.

How do I get my certificate?

You can download the PDF as soon as your payment clears, and we email you a copy.

I have lost my certificate. What can I do?

Use the Find my certificate page. Enter your email address and we will send your links again.

Will my employer accept this certificate?

That is up to your employer. Check with them about what training your role needs.

Does a certificate replace workplace training?

No. It should sit alongside practical instruction and supervision at work.

How do I verify a certificate?

Scan the QR code on the certificate, or enter its code on our Verify page. Anyone can do this, and no account is needed.

Do you offer team training?

Each person studies on their own device and gets their own certificate. See our For Business page, and get in touch if you want to discuss a group.

Our certificates are private training certificates of completion, not regulated qualifications. UK law does not require one specific food hygiene certificate. It requires food handlers to be supervised and instructed or trained appropriately. Employers decide what training each role needs, and a certificate does not replace practical instruction or supervision.
