About this course

Food allergies can kill. This course teaches the difference between allergy, intolerance and coeliac disease, the 14 allergens named in UK law and where they hide, and how to stop allergens spreading in a kitchen or at a counter.

You will also learn how to keep an allergen matrix, how to answer customer questions, how to handle online and delivery orders, and how to respond to anaphylaxis. Where rules or guidance differ between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the lessons say so.

UK law sets no expiry date for food hygiene training. We suggest a refresher about every 3 years, and your employer may ask for it sooner.

Our certificates are private training certificates of completion, not regulated qualifications. UK law does not require one specific food hygiene certificate. It requires food handlers to be supervised and instructed or trained appropriately. Employers decide what training each role needs, and a certificate does not replace practical instruction or supervision.
